# Marquee Interiors
The structure sets the scale. What goes inside it determines how the event actually feels.
We supply and install all interior elements: flooring, lining, lighting, furniture, power, and climate control. Everything is agreed at the planning stage, itemised in the quote, and installed by our team. You know what you are getting before anything is confirmed, and the specification does not change between agreement and delivery.
We have worked with the same core set of suppliers across Sussex and Surrey for years. The quality is consistent and the results are reliable — which matters more than it might sound, in the final days before an event.
Flooring
The right floor for your event depends on the ground conditions, the occasion, and the look you are creating.
Coir matting is the most practical all-purpose choice — durable, stable, easy to clean, and well suited to almost any event. It is where we start when nothing else points us in a different direction.
Parquet flooring is the natural choice when the interior finish is part of the brief. For a wedding dinner or a formal corporate event, it brings a solidity and warmth to the space that matting does not. It requires level ground and slightly more installation time.
Carpet works well for events of longer duration, exhibition-style setups, or anywhere that standing comfort is a consideration.
Astroturf suits events where the boundary between the structure and the garden is intentionally soft — informal summer parties, outdoor-feel occasions, children's events where the surface benefits from something forgiving.
Ground preparation — boards, stakes, levelling — is managed by us before the floor goes down.
Lining
Lining transforms the interior of a marquee from a functional structure into a finished event space. We offer draped fabric ceiling and wall linings in a range of colours. White and ivory are the most requested; between the two, ivory is the more flattering in artificial light and works particularly well for evening events where the lighting is warm.
We will show you samples and advise based on the structure type, the lighting specification, and the overall palette of the event.
Lighting
Lighting has more influence on how an evening event feels than almost any other single element. A well-lit marquee at dusk, from the outside, is one of the most beautiful things we create.
Festoon lighting — warm bulbs strung across the ceiling or draped along lining panels — is the most requested finish for weddings and informal events. It is reliable, genuinely flattering, and creates the kind of atmosphere that photographs well.
Fairy lights woven through a lining canopy or high ceiling create a denser, more intimate quality of light. Particularly effective in tipis and traditional marquees where the ceiling height and the canvas create a natural focal point.
Uplights positioned against lining or structural elements add depth and, where colour is wanted, a wash that changes the character of the space entirely. We use battery-powered units — no cables to trip over.
Pendant and chandelier fittings are available for events where the lighting is intended to be seen as well as experienced.
Functional lighting — entrance, catering run, and exterior — is included as standard across all packages.
For larger events with more complex lighting rigs, we work with specialist suppliers and coordinate their installation within our site schedule.
Furniture
Tables, chairs, bars, soft seating, and ancillary items are all supplied as part of the interior package.
Tables: round banquet tables (5ft or 6ft diameter) for seated dining; trestle tables for catering and buffet setups; poseur tables for standing receptions.
Chairs: Chiavari chairs in gold or silver are the most requested for weddings and formal events. Folding chairs for more relaxed occasions. Chair covers are available.
Bars: modular bar units in a range of finishes, specified to your footprint and guest count.
Soft seating: lounge furniture for reception areas or informal spaces — sofas, armchairs, occasional tables.
Quantities are confirmed at the floor plan stage based on your layout and guest count.
Power
Reliable power is not a detail — it is the foundation that everything else depends on. We plan it carefully and build in appropriate contingency.
Generator hire is included for any event where mains connection is not available or practical. We use quiet-running diesel generators sized to the load, positioned to minimise noise impact.
Mains connection is the cleaner option where the site supports it. We assess the available supply at the site visit and confirm viability before anything is agreed.
Power distribution inside the structure — cable management, distribution boards, circuit protection — is all handled by us. Caterers and AV suppliers receive a clean, correctly earthed supply at the appropriate specification.
Climate control
Heating: from September onwards, supplementary heating is usually required. We use electric or gas-powered units depending on the structure type and duration. For tipi events, a wood-burning stove can be specified alongside or instead of conventional heating — it contributes to the atmosphere as much as the temperature.
Cooling and ventilation: for larger events in warm conditions, we advise on opening configurations and, where needed, supplementary cooling. A well-ventilated marquee in summer is a comfortable space. An unventilated one is not.
How it works
Enquire. Tell us the date, guest count, and structure type if you have already chosen one. We will respond within one working day.
Plan. We visit the site, agree the specification, and produce an itemised quote. Each element is listed separately so you can see exactly what is included and adjust anything that doesn't fit the brief.
Deliver. We install before the event and remove everything after. The site is left as we found it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use my own furniture supplier?
Yes. If you have a preferred hire company for furniture or décor, we will coordinate with them as part of the site schedule. We need to know their access window and any floor or power requirements in advance. The one thing we ask is that our flooring and lining are installed before any other supplier begins work inside the structure.
How do you approach winter events?
With care and a proper heating plan. Winter marquee events are entirely achievable — we have delivered many — but they require more detailed specification than a summer event. Insulation, heating load, condensation management, and entrance treatment all need to be thought through properly. For events from November to February, the heating plan is a specific part of the planning conversation. A well-prepared marquee in December is a genuinely good event space.
Are the interior packages fixed, or can I adjust them?
The specification is built item by item at the planning stage and is entirely adjustable. We will advise on what works well together and flag anything that is likely to cause a problem, but the brief is yours to shape. Nothing is added or changed without your agreement.
