# Dome Marquee Hire
A geodesic dome creates an enclosed space that is immediately different from anything else. No straight lines. Natural light from above when clear-panelled. An interior that curves around you rather than containing you. It is not the right structure for a large seated dinner — but for an intimate event, a brand activation, or a secondary space at a larger occasion, it is hard to match for impact.
We hire geodesic domes for private events and corporate hospitality across Sussex, Surrey, Kent, and the wider South East. Within the right brief, they are exceptional.
Who it's for
Domes work best for:
- Corporate hospitality and brand activations where the structure itself is part of the statement
- Intimate private dining — a dinner for 20 to 40 guests where the enclosed, immersive quality of the space adds something that a conventional room cannot
- Secondary spaces at larger events — a cocktail reception, a late-night bar, a private area separate from the main structure
- Product launches and experiential events where the venue needs to be as memorable as the content inside it
- Clients who want something genuinely distinctive and understand that the trade-off is capacity
For large seated dinners or events above 60 to 80 guests, a clear-span structure or tipi configuration will serve you better. For a smaller space with real presence, a dome is worth considering seriously.
Sizes and capacities
Geodesic domes are available in several diameter options:
| Diameter | Floor area (approx) | Seated dinner (approx) | Standing (approx) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6m | ~28m² | 16–20 | 35 |
| 8m | ~50m² | 35–45 | 65 |
| 10m | ~78m² | 55–65 | 100 |
The circular floor plan suits round tables well. Long-table or classroom-style layouts are less suited to the form.
Domes can be fitted with clear panels, which bring in natural light and sky views and create a very particular atmosphere, or with opaque panels for a more enclosed feel. We will discuss which works better for your event, your season, and the effect you are after.
Pricing
Dome hire is priced by diameter, specification, and hire duration. As a guide:
- An 8m dome for a weekend event (flooring, basic lighting, opaque panels) starts from £[X]
- A 10m dome for a corporate event or secondary wedding space (three to five days, full lighting rig and climate control) typically falls in the range £[X]–£[X]
Domes are often quoted as part of a larger event package. If you are considering a dome alongside a main marquee structure, we can quote both together.
Frequently asked questions
Can a dome be used in winter?
Yes. The enclosed spherical form is naturally well-insulated — there is less surface area relative to volume than a rectangular structure of equivalent floor space. For autumn and winter events, we recommend climate control as part of the specification. A properly heated dome is a genuinely comfortable space at any time of year, and the absence of cold corners is one of its practical advantages.
Are domes available with clear panels?
Yes. Clear geodesic panels create a quite different quality of space — natural light during the day, a view of the sky at night, and a sense of openness that works particularly well for brand events and hospitality. The practical consideration is temperature: clear panels let in more heat in summer and lose it more quickly in winter. We will recommend the right configuration for your event and the time of year.
How does a dome work alongside another structure?
Domes work well as self-contained secondary structures positioned near but separate from a main event space. They can also be connected to a larger marquee via a covered walkway or pagoda bay — an arrangement we have used for weddings where the main dining structure connects to a dome for a cocktail reception or late-night bar. We will sketch the configuration for your site at the planning stage.
