Logistics and access
Most Sussex venues are well served by the A27, A23/M23, and A24 corridors. Rural sites in the South Downs and the High Weald can involve single-track lanes that require advance coordination for vehicle access and deliveries. We flag this at the site visit and plan accordingly.
Summer weekends in Sussex — particularly in July and August — are busy on the road network. For events with significant supplier deliveries, we build the access schedule around known pinch points.
Planning permission
For temporary structures on private land, permitted development rights generally allow events of up to 28 days per calendar year without the need for planning permission. Sussex contains a significant portion of the South Downs National Park, where permitted development rights are the same but scrutiny from the local planning authority can be more active for larger or more visible events. Yes. We cover East and West Sussex in full, including rural sites in the South Downs, the High Weald, and along the coast. For more remote locations, access logistics and travel time form part of the site assessment. We will confirm everything at the quotation stage.
What are ground conditions like for marquee events in Sussex?
Variable, and worth taking seriously. The South Downs chalk has good drainage and is generally stable for marquee groundworks. Clay soils in the Weald and Low Weald can be challenging after prolonged rain, particularly in autumn. We assess ground conditions on every site visit and advise on groundwork requirements, matting, and flooring options based on what we find.
How early should I book for a Sussex summer event?
For peak summer dates — June, July, and August — twelve months is the comfortable lead time. We do take bookings further out than that and, occasionally, at shorter notice where availability allows. If you have a date in mind, a short call is the quickest way to find out where we stand.
