# Marquee Hire in the Home Counties

The Home Counties north and east of London — Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Essex — offer a mix of private gardens, established rural venues, and easy access from the capital. It is an area with a broad range of event occasions: weddings in country gardens, corporate events within reach of London offices, and large private celebrations at family homes that have been hosting gatherings for years.

We work across this area regularly and know it well.

Where we work

We cover Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire (excluding the Thames Valley areas covered separately), and Essex: St Albans, Harpenden, Hertford, Ware, Bishop's Stortford, Stevenage, Welwyn Garden City, Chelmsford, Brentwood, Epping, Harlow, Saffron Walden, Aylesbury, and the villages and rural areas throughout.

Venues we've worked at

Private gardens, country houses, and farm venues across Hertfordshire and Essex make up the core of our work in this area. Events here range from intimate garden weddings to larger celebrations at established properties, and the variety keeps the work interesting.

Common venue types

Private gardens and family homes are the most common setting for events across the Home Counties. The villages of Hertfordshire and the rural areas of Essex have a high concentration of properties with gardens large enough to accommodate a proper marquee event. These are often the most personal and most memorable occasions we deliver.

Country houses and small estates are well represented across Hertfordshire in particular, which has a long tradition of the kind of country house event that a marquee is ideally suited to support.

Farm and rural venues across Essex and Buckinghamshire offer space and informality in equal measure. They work particularly well for weddings and larger parties where the outdoor character of the setting is part of the brief.

Corporate venues and hotel grounds near the M1, M11, and M25 corridors serve the London business community with event facilities that occasionally benefit from additional outdoor covered space. We have delivered corporate events at a range of venues in this category.

Logistics and access

The M25, M1, M11, and A1(M) give good access to most of the Home Counties. Hertfordshire in particular is well served for logistics, with most sites within straightforward reach of the major routes. Rural Essex can involve more planning for larger vehicle access on smaller roads; we identify and address this at the site visit.

The Home Counties sit approximately 60 to 90 minutes from our base. Build schedules are planned accordingly, and for events at the outer edges of the area, logistics timing forms part of the site discussion.

Planning permission

Standard permitted development rules apply for temporary structures on private land — generally 28 days per year without requiring planning permission. Essex and Hertfordshire have areas of Green Belt land where commercial events may attract additional scrutiny; for events on Green Belt land, a brief check with the local planning authority is sensible. Frequently asked questions

Do you cover all of Essex, including more rural areas?

Yes, across the county. For sites in the more remote parts of northern Essex or western Essex near the Cambridgeshire border, travel time and access form part of the site assessment. We confirm all logistics clearly at the quotation stage.

What size events do you typically deliver in the Home Counties?

The range is broad — from intimate garden weddings for 40 guests to corporate events and large private celebrations for several hundred. The structure and specification are matched to the event. We are as comfortable with a pagoda marquee in a Hertfordshire garden as with a large clear-span structure for a corporate event near the M25.

Is the Home Counties area more expensive than Sussex or Surrey?

The structure and interiors cost the same wherever the event is. For sites at the outer edges of our working area, a modest travel cost may be included in the quote. We will confirm this clearly from the outset.
